"Magical" urban mile Ibiza Island

In this 41st edition, among more than a hundred participants, my daughter Noa in Alevines, myself as a master and three fraternal friends participated.

A mile and 5K that are characterized by the passion that his alma mater Pep Ribas and his wife Mari put into it. And it is that days before, given the little local institutional aid that is received, it seems that it will not be able to be carried out. But with the efforts of our friends who do their bit by collaborating in the organization, among them Álex Calabuig, Álex Florez, Johny Ouriaghli and more people related to Pep, more collaborators from local companies who join the bandwagon, the races are almost perfect and we enjoy them. That is why, once all the underlying difficulties have been overcome each year, it is called the Magic Mile.

Well, I'll tell you very close results:

Noa Beneyto (FBR Runners) had a very good race despite her young age and still minimal experience competing. Running from less to more, he achieved victory in his category over the distance of 700m and a time of 2'37" (3'44"/Km) that gave him great joy for his intelligent effort.

Noa dedicated her trophy to Pep Ribas in gratitude for making it possible for us to have the hotel we originally had. She had a great time!!

For my part, I made an “anecdotal story” in 2025. After 26 participations and 26 continuous podiums, this time I didn't even scratch the same one by finishing fifth. It's not that anything bad happened to me, it's just that the four athletes who preceded me, including my friend Pau Bundo who was 4th with 6:21 (3'56"/Km) were much better than me. Someday it had to happen, don't you think? hehehehe...

I ran in 6:35 (4'05”/Km), which means doing eleven seconds faster than last year, so there has been an improvement and I am very happy about this.

My miller brother Alex Calabuig did it in just 6:05 (3'46"/Km) and was 3rd +50 which is amazing. He was barely six seconds away from achieving the goal that we have set out to achieve if possible in 2026. He has it within a stone's throw and it has made me very happy, and it has also motivated me to train harder determination to claw at the seconds.

Albert Figuerola, husband of the remembered and eternal Carmen Valero, who at 70 years old did it in 8:43 (5'25”/Km) Brutal!!

Carlos Domingo Cea who was 2nd +40 with 6:01 (3'44"/Km) which is also incredible for not being a regular at this distance. It is even more so in 10K.

And Juan Antonio Gil several times world, European and Spanish master champion in 800m/1,500m, he competed with the elite at 47 years of age, performing well. His final time was 4:47 (2'58"/Km).

To comment that both Calabuig, Figuerola and I had the honor of distributing the prizes to the elite athletes and also holding the finish line for the winners of the male and female elite. I had never done it before and the truth is that I really liked it.

I want to take advantage of the last words and as co-organizer of this mile and 5K, to invite you to come next year 2026 in this magical test. I assure you that you will enjoy it like no other!! You can see as an example the t-shirt given to those who reach the finish line, where the name of four illustrious Spanish Olympic athletes appears under the title "Milleros": Fermín Cacho, Maite Zúñiga, Carmen Valero and Jose Manuel Abascal

Happy strides and kilometers!!

Franc Beneyto
